José Villa was awarded on 2008 the National Award of Arts for the work of his life. He was also invited to make personal exhibits in two important Museums and presented las personal exhibits Mutantia at the National Museum of Art of Cuba in 2009 and Immutabilis at the Institute of Modern Art of Valencia (IVAM), Spain in 2010
